Whether it’s two weeks on an exotic beach or a weekend escape closer to home, summer is the perfect time to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! Whilst you may have to condense your wardrobe and beauty products down to fit in a travel bag, we know there are those all-important skincare items you just can’t live without.
With that in mind, we asked some of the team what their Rio Rosa summer skin travel essentials are, and if they have any summer skincare advice to share. Here’s what they had to say:
“I always struggle to travel light, and need to be very strict when it comes to packing my case! To save space, I’m a big fan of buying my favourite skincare products in miniature size wherever possible. This allows me to take some skincare essentials in my hand luggage when flying (hello drying air-con) and to continue my usual routine whilst I’m away. For larger sized toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, I’ll decant them into smaller plastic bottles and label them so my bag is lighter, leaving more room for shoes!”

“I have really sensitive skin, so summer can sometimes be a difficult time for me! My travel essential has to be our Rosehip Oil, as it has so many uses! I keep a bottle in my handbag to nourish any dry patches of skin throughout the day and always use it to soothe my skin after it has been exposed to the sun. I find it works wonders on insect bites too, to prevent me itching! My other travel essential is aloe vera gel. I always keep a plant at home, but when I’m travelling, I buy a small tube of gel to calm any angry patches of skin.”

“I enjoying seeking out the sunshine in summer, but always ensure my skincare and make-up contains SPF protection to prevent premature ageing and sun damage. The Rio Rosa Anti-Ageing Day & Night Cream is a favourite of mine, because it protects the skin from UVA damage naturally thanks to it’s Red Algae content. If I’m heading off on a city break, I’ll also make sure I pack some of our Antioxidant Facial Oil to protect my skin from pollution particles.”
“I often find I get a build-up of excess oil on my t-zone during summer, but also suffer from dry patches of skin on my cheeks due to air conditioning exposure. To combat this, I take special care to step-up my cleansing routine by exfoliating twice a week and cleansing twice each day to make sure I’m removing all make-up and impurities to avoid breakouts. I love the Rio Rosa Cream Cleanser - it’s powerful enough to clean my skin and remove excess oil, but it’s also completely natural so doesn’t contain any harsh foaming agents or additives to irritate my dry patches. I also tend to wear less make-up in summer too, to allow my skin to breathe. In fact, whilst on holiday, I don’t wear any at all!”
“My top tip is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! When visiting a warm country I keep water handy at all times, otherwise my skin dehydrates and over-produces oil to compensate, leaving me with shiny skin. At the end of a day in the sun I apply the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Body Butter (it’s grapefruit scent is so refreshing and summery!) and the Intensive Night Treatment to give my skin a real moisture-boost ready for the next day!”
