The skincare routine every man should follow

The skincare routine every man should follow

The vast majority of women have a well-established skin routine, carried out religiously every day and featuring their tried and tested favourite products. And although men’s skin deserves just as much TLC, the percentage of men who have a skincare routine is significantly lower (although many of our female customers have told us that their other halves are always nicking their products!).

We’re on a mission to change that. At Rio Rosa Mosqueta, we believe that everyone deserves to look and feel their best, with a little help from nature’s botanical treasure trove. Below, we’ll run you through a few products to help establish a male skincare routine, so you can leave the house looking good and feeling great.

The basics

Using a cream cleanser on your face every morning or night is essential for washing away any grime and excess oil that builds up throughout the day, without over-drying. Small bottles are perfect for popping in your gym bag too, to rinse off sweat and help you feel refreshed after a kickaround or tough workout session.

We all get rough, dry skin from time to time. Exfoliating twice a week after cleansing will slough off dead skin cells to leave the skin feeling lovely and smooth, making for a more comfortable shave in the morning.

Finally, moisturising is one of the most important steps. Shaving, the weather and even air con and central heating can strip the skin of its essential oils and aggravate our skin, so a soothing moisturiser is essential for keeping skin hydrated and nourished. Look out for ones containing natural ingredients such as soothing aloe vera and nourishing shea butter.

Beard or no beard?

If you prefer the clean shaven look, cream cleansers can help you out here too. They make ideal shaving cream, as they provide a creamy surface which allows the razor to easily glide over your face. Their nourishing ingredients ensure that skin is cleansed yet moisturised, preventing irritation and giving you a healthy glow all day long.

On the other hand, if you prefer a luscious beard, make sure you’re keeping it in tip-top condition with a conditioning oil. Pure rosehip oil is lightweight, non-greasy and will nourish and soften the skin underneath whilst taming unruly facial hair. Our Antioxidant Facial Oil is a great alternative too. It’s even lighter than rosehip oil and is lightly scented with essential oils.
