Sacha Inchi seed oil is a key ingredient in our Body Butter, Eye Contour Cream and Hand Cream. It is one of the exotic ingredients in our new range that you may not be familiar with, so we’ve shared below lots of interesting facts about it.
Sacha Inchi is a forest crop which grows in the Amazonian area of Peru, and is cultivated according to traditional and organic agriculture methods. The seeds do not contain any chemical treatment and are free from chemical pollutant traces.
Traditionally, Sacha Inchi was cultivated along the eastern slopes of the lower Andes for over 3,000 years and the plant is depicted on Incan tomb carvings. The cultivated land is located at high altitudes, typically 500 meters or 1600 feet above sea level, in the junction between the Andes and the Amazon Rainforest.
Who would have thought that this star-shaped green pod with three layers of shell, about the size of a hazelnut, could contain 49-53% of pure oil?
The oil from the Sacha Inchi seed is the richest source of Omega 3 and 6 in any plant oil and contains a huge 84.41% of Essential Fatty Acids – with more than 48% being omega 3. It easily penetrates the skin and is highly moisturising, making it the perfect remedy for dry, inflamed and sensitive skin. It is rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C and E and Carotenoids to help against oxidative damage.
Sacha Inchi oil works alongside our rosehip seed oil and other specially selected natural ingredients to hydrate, soothe and soften your skin.
